Frequently Asked Replacement Window & Door Questions
What’s the window buying process like?

The window buying process is easier if you already have an idea of what type of windows you want. Consider how they should work and how you want them to look. Once you have an idea of what you’re interested in, you’ll schedule a meeting with a window consultant to discuss product options, measurements, and installation. After you sign a contract for your project your windows are ordered from the manufacturer and installation is scheduled after your windows are delivered.

LEARN MORE: 3 Things You Should Consider When Replacing Windows

What’s the door buying process like?

Your installer will start by taking measurements. You will then choose and order your new doors. Once they arrive, the crew will perform the installation work and finish by cleaning up the job site.

How are replacement windows measured?

We take multiple horizontal and vertical measurements of the window to determine the smallest points of the window as well as the window depth. That allows us to order a properly sized window that’s not too big for the opening and not small enough to leave big gaps around the window frame.

How are front doors measured?

We take multiple measurements in order to determine what size will best suit your door opening. Our installation techs will take three measurements horizontally and then vertically; top, center, bottom, then right, center, and left. If you’re doing your own measure, take the smallest of the three horizontal and three vertical measures and use that to order.  You’ll also want to measure the door’s thickness.

How are patio doors measured?

Pry the interior trim free to expose the frame. Remove the interior trim around the old door and measure the "rough opening" between the studs for the width and measure the height floor to beam.
