While there are many new alternative fence systems
available, the majority of applications fall into four groups:
Each
of these have different features, so a brief look at each is
beneficial.

Vinyl Fencing
This fence type is the latest type to hit the market. It is
gaining huge popularity against wood because it offers the
same options of spaced picket, post and rail “ranch rail”,
and full privacy designs and additionally, it will last much
longer, lifetime manufacture warranty also fully
transferable . although it is around 30% higher in cost to
cedar. While early versions could tend to become brittle and
crack or discolor, all new extrusion material will hold up
quite well, offering a 110mph wind rating and the peace of
mind of a maintenance free lifetime product. A Wide choice of
colors (white and a few light-colored off-white shades and
some wood grains) is available.

Wood Fencing
Wood Fencing is most popular in city and rural areas and
where a more rustic appearance is desired also due to its
value. It is available in various types of wood from cedar
and spruce. Construction is generally completed by setting
wood or metal “galvanized” posts, framing between or across
posts with horizontal rails and then filling with vertical
wood pickets. Wood fencing is reasonably priced and offers a
greater variety of looks than other fences. Life expectancy
will vary depending on the type and treatment of wood used.
Of course Brennan only uses American grown cedar, 16ft
material and all custom built, one picket at a time.
Properly treated a cedar fence will provide 15+ years of
enjoyment.

Ornamental Metal Fencing
Rapidly becoming a segment of the residential fence and
railing industry, this fence type is also the most confused.
The material choices vary from wrought iron to processed
steel to aluminum; the framing choices for pickets, rails,
and posts vary from round to square and solid to hollow;
fastening systems vary from welding to rivets and screws to
special internal connectors and the style choices offered by
various fabricators and manufacturers are almost infinite.
Some products carry a 20yr manufacture warranty.

Chain Link Fencing
Chain Link Fencing is widely used in a variety of
applications. It is made up of a woven wire fabric tied to
tubular steel posts and rails. It is available with a
galvanized metal finish or in various color finishes.
Chain Link Fences form effective barriers, they allow an
open view of the areas they enclose, and they are
economical. Excellent information is available from the
Chain Link Fence Manufacturers Institute.

Concrete Fencing
Precast concrete fencing is durable and is
trusted for major public works, including
highway improvement projects, big box
developments and parks.
The great advantage of a precast concrete wall
and fence solution vs. the outmoded concrete
block method is that it is assembled using a
panel and post system.
The result is an economical wall or fence
created to your specifications in the warm look
and texture of wood, brick or stone.
